Whether you want to lose weight, get fit, strengthen your body and even gain weight, the treadmill is one of the most important pieces of gym equipment that you will be using. Everyone knows that the treadmill is a great tool for getting fit. But if used correctly, the treadmill can be used to strengthen the entire body, burn excess calories and even prepare the leg muscles for some serious power lifting.
If you want to lose weight the treadmill must become your best friend. Ideally you should be running on the treadmill at least 5 time a week and a minimum of 30 minutes per run. I know what some of you are thinking. You don't enjoy running. Let me tell you something, running on the treadmill is not the same as running on the road or path. The treadmill offers a much more comfortable run and your body adapts easily to the run. If you do not enjoy running just give the treadmill a try. Start off with a long 15 minute walk on the treadmill. After 15 minutes, increase the speed to a very slow jog and jog for around 2 minutes. After the 2 minute jog, decrease the speed back to a comfortable walk. Walk for another 2 minutes and repeat the process. Do this everyday for a month, increasing the 2 minute jog to 3 minutes then 4 minutes etc. You will be astonished how quickly your body adapts to the treadmill. Don't be surprised when you suddenly realize that you now enjoy running. It sort of sneaks up on you.
Within a month, most of you will become very confident with using the treadmill.
Combining the treadmill within your circuit training can provide rapid positive results for all those wanting to lose weight and strengthen the body.
